As of mid-2024, despite global economic fluctuations and increased trade barriers, China's textile and clothing exports have demonstrated modest growth. According to the latest data from the General Administration of Customs released on July 12, these sectors continue to navigate through a complex international landscape.
In June 2024, textile and clothing exports increased by 2.3% year-on-year, reflecting a slow but positive trajectory. The first half of the year saw a cumulative export value of $143.18 billion, marking a 1.5% increase compared to the previous year, with textiles rising by 3.3% and clothing exports remaining stable.
From January to June 2024, China's textile exports amounted to 492.67 billion yuan, increasing by 6.5%, while clothing exports reached 524.43 billion yuan, up by 3%. Despite facing significant challenges such as fluctuating overseas demand, the industry has managed to keep a stable growth pattern.
In dollar terms, the resilience of the export figures is notable, with textile and clothing exports totaling $27.4 billion in June alone, showing an increase both year-on-year and month-on-month.
Amidst ongoing global economic recovery challenges, China’s textile and clothing industries are showcasing their ability to adapt and maintain growth, underpinning the vital role of these sectors in the national economy.
